Hello, my name is Kyle Steele, and I'm running for Norman City Council - Ward 6.  When I first took an interest in local politics, I ran into many issues.  Voting records for the City Council were (and still are in my opinion) difficult to locate in a timely matter.  The social media presence for Ward 6 has little activity and, as a result, it can make it hard for Ward 6 residents to get involved in local government or know if our input is being received and taken into a consideration.  In my opinion, the top priorities for an Elected Official are their constituents and being a part of the community they serve, because you can't serve your community unless you are active in your community.

My Vision - To be a facilitator that empowers Ward 6 Residents year round,
not just during election cycles.

My Promises

If elected, I promise the following for Ward 6...

Community Focused

Boots on the ground

Community outreach and being available for people shouldn't be an afterthought, it should be one of the top priorities.  As your representative on the City Council, I will attend every community event possible so residents from all walks of life with a variety of schedules have a chance to meet and voice their opinions.  Bottom line, if there is a community event, or if I'm asked to be somewhere and I'm available, I'll be there.

Monthly Meetups

Constantly giving people the chance to speak

Giving people the chance to make their voices heard requires open venues for people to come and say their peace without them needing to give notice.  At least once a month, I will spend a morning or afternoon at a local business and announce it so anyone can come and speak to me about their issues.  These meetings will provide the average person, who may not have much time for local politics, a better chance to get involved in the political process and make their voice heard.

Proactive Democracy

Giving all Ward 6 residents a seat at the table

I have my opinions on local issues, but those opinions don't give me the right to vote for the entire Ward.  Ward 6 residents as a whole know whats best for their neighborhoods and community, and that is all that matters when it comes time to vote.  When major issues in Norman, both known and unknown, arise, I will make sure town halls on the topic are held so that when it comes time to vote, it will be what Ward 6 decides, regardless of my personal opinion.

Transparency Like No Other

See what I've been up to at the click of a button

As a Elected Official, what I do should be an open book to the community.  You won't have to file an open records request on me because I'll write up what I've done bi-weekly on social media and official communication channels.  This will allow people to not have to be up to date on local politics all the time, and when they do research, can easily see weeks or months worth of my activity from a first hand source, rather than trying to piece together information from third parties.
